Four Years A Fan
Jul. 31st, 2017 12:32 pmI am a fan of Arashi for four years already. However, it felt like only yesterday when I first streamed "Hana Yori Dango", got Jun-baited (like most of the fans haha), and ended up loving all the members of the idol group.
Back in 2013 as a first-timer, I first got around watching some of their MTVs via Vimeo. That site is gold! It plays all their PVs in HD quality (both video and audio). I remember seeing the Truth PV and squealing every time Jun is shown on the screen. After binge-watching their promotional videos, of course, I ended up wanting to see more of them.
So I turned to Youtube. There, I discovered how lovely Nino's voice is (and that no matter how I love Jun, I can't really appreciate his singing). So I became a Nino fan. I've watched Yamada Taro Monogatari, his solo performances, and clips of him being snarky and goofy. It was then that I've read about him and Ohno being super close that fans consider them a pair.
Okay. Now I'm curious about this leader.
My first real search about Ohno is a YT compilation of his solo parts. Blimey, where was I since 1999? His voice swept me away! His voice is sweet, his range impressive, and his singing heart-stopping. On top of that, his solo parts were perfect for his vocal skills.
I am weak for boys who sing like Ohno. And so, there and then, I fell in love with him. Ha ha!
After that, I was further entranced by the man when I've watched how skillful he is in dancing. And when I found out that he creates art. And when I've learned that he excels in almost everything he puts his mind on. Everything about him is attractive, even the not-so-good parts.
I've first watched his acting in Maou. Goodness, I've finished that drama in just two nights. As if I don't have work tomorrow. He just pulled me in that I can't do anything about it. I've watched Kaibutsu-kun (haha!) and Uta no Onii-san. He did great in all of those dramas!
I've downloaded Kyou no hiwa sayonara and ended up a crying mess. Man. When Ohno cries, you have no choice but to cry with him.
After being short-sighted by Ohno, I began widening my perspective again and started following Arashi as a group. I've acquired the LOVE album (thank you internet) and watched the Popcorn DVD (thanks again, internet). After that, there was no turning back. I've scoured the web high and low for their other concerts. I was lucky to find out about LJ, which happened to be a treasure trove of Arashi goodies! There I discovered that I can download not only their concerts, but also their TV shows. SUBBED. Whoa, I'm so glad I've managed to take my internet-searching skills to the next level!
I began collecting copies of their old and current shows. Then I followed some LJ users to keep myself posted. Then I created a Tumblr account and followed Arashi/Ohno fans there.
And the fangirling continued.
There were times when I won't hear anything about them because I was too busy to visit LJ or Tumblr. But I will always return. Fangirling for Arashi, after all, always feels like home.
Even today, when all of them are already in their 30's, they never fail to make me laugh and yearn to see them in person. They also always offer something new whenever they release/do a project, be it an album, a movie, a drama, or a concert. They never cease to amaze me. Them being active is also a factor why I remained a fan.
Four years being entertained by Arashi is not life-changing. But it added sparkles and rainbows to my life. And no other idol group can make me feel this way. Today, and until they retire, I know I'll always be their fan. :)
